On the morning of October 8th, 2012, we woke up at about 4 am to arrive at Six Flags Great Adventure at 6 am. We were attending the Nitro Media Shoot for the Travel Channels filming of Extreme Coaster Wars: World Domination. A day that should have been exciting, turned out to be what we didn't expect. Previous Travel Channel shootings let us ride the Coaster about 20 times, for hours, and interviewed us so we can be on television. This time, it was totally different. They had us waiting around in the Nitro station just waiting there. We planed to start riding at 7 am, but they lied to us, as they didn't start us riding until 9:30 am, just before the park opened. They made us stand there in the freezing cold for hours. It was similar to torture. Then, they only made us ride Nitro a few times, and that was it. When they made us ride, they also told us we had to ride in short sleeves because, "it is always summer in tv land!" We literally froze from the below freezing temperature and the high speed winds of Nitro. We even got sick after. Also, instead of interviewing actual Roller Coaster Enthusiasts (like us), they interviewed paid actors, and they were labeled "Roller Coaster Enthusiasts." The media shoot for Nitro was expected to be fun and exciting, but turned out to be the opposite and a waste of time. We do regret attending the event. However, there is a chance you could see us on television when the show airs.
After wasting 5 hours just standing in the station of Nitro, they let us into the park, without paying the admission cost (which didn't matter, because we all had season passes). We felt sick and exhausted from the morning, so we only rode a few rides in the morning (mostly El Toro) and then left the park. We felt it was a waste of a day, money, and gas. It had to be one of the worst days at an Amusement Park for us. Next time, hopefully the Travel Channel improves their filming work, and focuses on better Roller Coaster program
