On Sunday July 22nd, we visited Six Flags New England. It was our third time we visited the park during 2012. The first time was in March during an ACE event, and the second time was in April. Overall, it was an okay day at the park. During the day there were some bad events, and some good events.
We arrived at the park at about 10:15 am, 15 minutes before the park opened. We waited with the big mass of crowds to enter the park. At 10:30 am, the park finally opened. Usually everyone (inculding myself) goes straight to be the first riders on Bizarro. However, the parks new Coaster, Goliath (formally Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain) was open. Most of the crowd rushed to ride Goliath. Luckily, we were one of the first in line. We would have been on the first train of the Coaster, but we decided to wait an extra train to wait for the front row. Then the riders for the first train of the day entered the seats of Goliath. After everyone got strapped in, the train dispatched, went back about 5 feet, and then stopped. Yes, the troubled Coaster did break down, before making a successful run with park guests on it. The riders waited in the station for about 30 minutes, while we waited in the station patiently to ride. Then finally about 11:15 and after doing a few test runs, the riders on the first train finally rode the Coaster. When they returned I was very excited to ride my 245th Coaster, Goliath at Six Flags New England.
We then entered the Coasters station. Before we sat down, I put my camera, phone, and sunglasses in the rides holding area (I did not want to loose them!) When I went to sit down, there were two girls sitting in our seats. I told them to get out of seats, but they didn't. I complained to the ride operators, and they kicked the girls out of our seats. I was upset at that, but the ride cheered me up!
Overall Goliath was a good Coaster! There are much better Coasters, but for a Vekoma Boomerang Coaster it was great! The ride had its old trains running, and surprisingly, it was smooth. The Coaster was insanely tall and crazy. The next time we visit Six Flags New England, I would love to ride it, but if time permits. If the line is 2 hours long, I would not wait. If the line is only 15 minuets, I will defiantly ride it! Visit Six Flags New England soon to ride Goliath (and Bizarro!)
After we rode Goliath, we headed to ride Bizarro. A few minuets later, I realized I forgot my new, expensive sunglasses at Goliath! I quickly ran back to Goliath to retrieve them. When I got back to Goliath, I went to go to get them, but I was not able to. The ride operators said they will go get them, but they didn't even bother looking for them. I was very mad at the Six Flags staff, and we went to Guest Relations to reported the complaint. I told a manager my story, and she said "I am very sorry, but there is nothing we can do." I understood the situation, but I was still mad at the Six Flags staff that the ride operators were mean, and did not care about my sunglasses.
After that, it was about noon, and we then headed to ride one of the best Coasters on the planet, Bizarro. The line was about 45 minuets long, but it felt like forever. We rode it in the back row, and it was running great that day. As usual, the airtime was fantastic, and is defiantly one of the best Coasters in the world.
After riding Bizarro, we headed to ride a small family Coaster in the park, Catwoman's Whip. We then also rode the new Wild Mouse Coaster in the park, the Gotham City Gauntlet Escape from Arkham Asylum. Then we went to take a ride on the small compact B&M Floorless Coaster, Batman - The Dark Knight. The wait was not that bad, and was only about a 15 minute wait. We were then very hungry, and we decided to eat at JB's Smokehouse, located next to Goliath. The new restaurant at Six Flags New England was pricey, but it was great BBQ food! Next time you visit Six Flags New England, stop by at JB's Smokehouse to get great park food!
We then headed over to ride the great Wooden Coaster, the Cyclone. However, when we arrived there, we realized the Coaster had some mechanical issues, and was temporarily down. Instead we rode the crazy flat ride next to the Cyclone, Catapult. After our ride was over, the Cyclone reopened. The Coaster had a short waiting period, so we rode the classic Coaster a few times.
(Read our post on the possible modification to Cyclone)
After riding Cyclone, we headed over to Lost and Found to see if any one returned my sunglasses. Sadly they were not there, and none had returned them. We then decided to leave the park. It was a good day at the park. We got to ride some great Coasters, but we were still upset that I forgot my sunglasses at Goliath.
However, our day of riding Coasters was not over, as on the way home we stopped at Quassy Amusement Park.
