Saturday December 7th, 2013 was the annual ACE Event "A Christmas Story"Book Land, and it was our first time visiting the park of Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. It seemed crazy to drive over 3 hours one way just to ride a kiddie coaster at a kiddie amusement park, but it was absolutely worth it, as we had a fun and cheerful day at Storybook Land!
We arrived at the park at about one pm for an hour of ERT on Bubble the Coaster (yes, a kiddie coaster) and the Tick-Tock Clock Drop (yes, a kiddie drop tower.) While most people would generally skip over these two small rides, they were the biggest (and best) rides at the park; and surprisingly they were great! Bubbles was a total surprise, as it looked like a normal boring kiddie coaster, but totally blew our expectations. The coaster was one of the best (if not best) kiddie coaster around, being insanely fun and filled with little airtime. It was so fun I personally got 20 rides on it! Next, The Tick-Tock Clock Drop also surpassed our expectations. The drop tower (about 30-40 feet tall) was filled with little drops which gave us butterflies and nice airtime. It also gave us nice views of the little park as it spins around while dropping, lasting almost 2 minutes long. The ride was so cute that everytime we rode it we just had to laugh and giggle, as now it is one of our favorite drop towers (Zumanjaro at SFGA has some competition!)
After ERT the park was generous enough to give us a little tour of their 'little' new ride for 2014, Work Zone!, themed after a construction site. Trucks will travel around a factitious construction site filled with animatronics to give kids the feeling of being a construction worker. Park management showed us the station building and the latest of the track work, making us the first people, besides the park management, to see and take pictures the site of the ride. Enjoy the photos below!
After the tour we were able to walk around and enjoy the park before a little Q&A and door-prizes at the parks picnic area where they were generous to give us free food, toys and prizes! After that it was getting dark and it was time for the Holiday Lights, as the park was light up in fabulous lights! The park, already beautiful, became even more gorgeous. Lights light up the whole park and the atmosphere gave me the Christmas feeling that I had experienced only when I was a child. The park got crowded, but the staff was very nice and organized, making all the general public was friendly. It was an great image seeing so many kids, parents, and workers all smiling at an amusement park and having a great time during the Holiday Season. Storybookland became the perfect place to enjoy this wonderful time of the year, where we were even able to ride some rides!
I know many people are reading this thinking "why do a post about a kiddie park?" Even though Storybook Land is a park designed for kids, we still had a great time riding surprisingly awesome rides and it was perfect to bring out the Holiday Spirit felt only once a year.
