On Sunday June 3rd, 2012 the Coaster Of The Day crew team went to Six Flags Great Adventure. It was a very special day, as it was one of our administrators birthday!
The park opened that day at 10:30. We arrived at the park at 9:30, hoping to be the first ones to ride El Toro for the day. Due to the massive crowds, Six Flags had sections of the park roped off, so that security guards could safely escort guests to their favorite rides. We waited there, behind the line until 10:30. There was a massive crowd there, but we made it first to El Toro. We were lucky to be on the first train of El Toro of the day! The El Toro station was empty, so we stayed there for about a hour, and kept re-riding the Wooden Coaster.
After, it was approximately noon, and we headed over to the first B&M (Bolliger& Mallibard) Floor-less Coaster, Bizarro. Bizarro had no line, so we rode it a few times before heading over to ride the Runaway Mine Train. After riding the classic family Coaster, we headed over to ride El Toro once again! The line was picking up, and then it had about a 20 minute wait. We rode it two more times, and then we headed over to ride Nitro. Nitro had a 30 minute wait, and we rode it in the back row. It was then about 2 pm, and the park started to get very crowded. We had a long car ride home, so we decided to leave the park.
The quick day at SFGA was great! We were the first ones on El Toro for the day, and ride it over 8 times (which is really hard to do on a regular day at the park, and not on an ACE event.) Also we were able to ride great B&M Coasters - Bizarro and Nitro! It was an excellent day at Six Flags Great Adventure!
On Saturday June 2nd, 2012 Coaster if the Day went to Six Flags Great Adventure for a few hours. Earlier in the day we attended Seaside Screams 6, and decided to visit SFGA for the evening.
We arrived at the park at approximately 6 pm. The first thing we did, was ride SFGAs new ride, SkyScreamer. The line was about 2 hours long, about average for a new ride. SkyScreamer was definitely an enjoyable experience, and it was a great feeling to be flying 242 feet above SFGA looking down at all our favorite Coasters. If you visit the park soon, be sure to ride SkyScreamer.
We only had one hour in the park left, before it closed. We then quickly rode the great B&M (Bolliger & Mallibard) Mega Coaster, Nitro, in the front row. After ridding Nitro, we wanted to ride one of the best wooden Coasters, El Toro, before the park closed. The time was 8:50 and we had a few minutes to run across the park to El Toro. We waited until 9:45 to get on, and rode the last train of the night.
Overall, it was a fun 3 hours at the park. We finally got to ride SkyScreamer, and we got to ride two of of some of the world's greatest Coasters, Nitro and El Toro.
On Saturday June 2nd, 2012 the Coaster Of The Day team attended the popular Seaside Screams 6 event at Casino Pier. It was hosted by Casino Pier and A.C.E. (American Coaster Enthusiasts) in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. It was a great event filled with ERT, tours, and scavenger hunts. Overall it was a very fun and interesting day on the boardwalk.
The event begin at 10:30 am with a V.I.P. tour of the park, before it opened to the general public. This tour included their popular Dark Ride/ Haunted House, Stillwalk Manor. Following the tour, a 1 hour ERT session began. Exclusive Ride Time was offered on all four of the parks Roller Coasters (Wild Mouse, Star Jet, Pirates Hideaway, and Hot Tamales).
At approximately noon, the park opened to the general public. The Casino Pier management was kind enough to offer us all-day ride bracelets, which is good for including the up charge attraction, the Skyscraper.
At 1 pm, a scavenger hunt for A.C.E. began. The contest was to find 10 stars on rides, across the park. The winners received various prizes, including some old park memorabilia, and park tickets.
Following Casino Pier, we went to the neighboring park, Funtown Pier. On the boardwalk we then saw Snooki! At Funtown Pier we had an enjoyable experience there, with plenty of coasters and thrill rides. We enjoyed Funtown Pier, but we favored the neighboring Casino Pier
It was then about 4 pm and we decided to leave Seaside Heights, and head to Six Flags Great Adventure for the evening.
The 6 hours that we spent at Seaside Heights were amazing. The ACE event was terrific, and we filmed a lot of videos, including a POV of Star Jet, Wild Mouse, Skyscraper, and a V.I.P. tour of Stillwalk Manor (all videos were filmed WITH park permission!) Casino Pier offers a great family boardwalk fun that everyone should experience.
