The following day after Riding of the Bull Cuatro at Six Flags Great Adventure, we headed over to Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The Sunday after, on September 9th, 2012, there was another ACE event held at the Pier, called 'Seaside Hangover.' After our late night, many ACErs headed to Seaside for another fun-filled day of Roller Coaster riding.
We arrived at Casino Pier at approximately 10:45 am. We missed the VIP tour, but we already received one in June, during another event, so it was fine that we missed it. We waited for everyone to return from the tour, and waited for ERT (Exclusive Ride Time) to begin. ERT began at approximately 11:00 am. The park did not open to the general public until noon, so we had one full hour to get many rides on all four Coasters at the park: The Star Jet,Wild Mouse, Pirates Hideaway, and Hot Tamales. We rode the smaller Coasters, Pirates Hideaway, and Hat Tamales, only once. We rode the Wild Mouse a few times, and we rode the best Coaster at the park, the Star Jet dozens of times. While many people dislike Star Jet, and the other Coasters at Seaside, they are great Coasters, that provide hours of fun on the Jersey Shore.
At noon, the park opened to the general public. However, being mid September, the park was still empty when it opened. We were still able to get in many rides on all the attractions in the park. First, we headed over to ride the Still-Walk Manor, the Haunted House, on the Pier. However, it was experiencing some technical difficulties, and was currently closed. Instead, we rode Star Jet a few more times, rode the Log Flume, and rode the fantastic Centrifuge almost a dozen times. Centrifuge was a classic Scrambler ride, but enclosed in the dark, with blasting Rock music, and strobe lights: Making it the Best Indoor Flat Ride. Finally, Still-walk Manor opened, and we took a quick ride on it. Sadly, many 'props' were still down, but it was still a fantastic Dark Ride.
It was already 1:00 pm, and all the attendees meet in front of the Star Jet, for a group photo. As always, many people talked, including ACE NJ regional rep, Bret U, and the friendly Casino Pier management. The park provided many fantastic Door Raffle Prizes, where they gave away park memorabilia. As always, they also had a scavenger hunt, which sent many people, including us, running around the park looking for clues, to win the prize. Sadly, we did not win the scavenger hunt, but one guest in our party won a giant wooden soldier, from the Door Prizes!
After running around the park like mad men, we bought tickets to ride the up-charge attraction at the Pier, the Sky Scraper. Tickets were on sale for ACE members, and were only Five Dollars! After taking a ride on it, we realized the ride was intense, crazy, and fantastic, so we took another spin on the giant 'crane' ride.
After getting flipped around, it was already about 2:00 pm. We were all looped from Sky Scraper, and headed onto the Boardwalk to get some food for lunch. We ate pizza, Curly's famous Fries, and drank fantastic extra sweet lemonade. For desert, we got some fried Twinkies, and fried Oreo's which were very filling.
It was already 3:00 pm that evening, and we decided our day at Casino Pier was over. Our stomachs were too full to do more rides, and we had a long 3+ hour ride home. As always, Casino Pier set up another fantastic event for us. With registration only Ten dollars (without the Sky Scraper) it was a great deal,as it included an all day ride pass, Door Prizes, many rides on fantastic rides, and a great day with memories that we will remember for a long time.
*Hurricane Sandy Aftermath Update* On October 29th, 2012, Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast of the United States, and destroyed a major part of the pier. The end of the pier that extended out into the Atlantic Ocean collapsed, and destroyed major popular rides, including Star Jet, Still-walk Manor, Log Flume, Centrifuge, and other attractions. Park management has announced they will rebuild and reopen the park. The devastation was horrible, and was shocking, and we wish the Casino Pier team the best of luck for the future!
On Saturday June 2nd, 2012 the Coaster Of The Day team attended the popular Seaside Screams 6 event at Casino Pier. It was hosted by Casino Pier and A.C.E. (American Coaster Enthusiasts) in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. It was a great event filled with ERT, tours, and scavenger hunts. Overall it was a very fun and interesting day on the boardwalk.
The event begin at 10:30 am with a V.I.P. tour of the park, before it opened to the general public. This tour included their popular Dark Ride/ Haunted House, Stillwalk Manor. Following the tour, a 1 hour ERT session began. Exclusive Ride Time was offered on all four of the parks Roller Coasters (Wild Mouse, Star Jet, Pirates Hideaway, and Hot Tamales).
At approximately noon, the park opened to the general public. The Casino Pier management was kind enough to offer us all-day ride bracelets, which is good for including the up charge attraction, the Skyscraper.
At 1 pm, a scavenger hunt for A.C.E. began. The contest was to find 10 stars on rides, across the park. The winners received various prizes, including some old park memorabilia, and park tickets.
Following Casino Pier, we went to the neighboring park, Funtown Pier. On the boardwalk we then saw Snooki! At Funtown Pier we had an enjoyable experience there, with plenty of coasters and thrill rides. We enjoyed Funtown Pier, but we favored the neighboring Casino Pier
It was then about 4 pm and we decided to leave Seaside Heights, and head to Six Flags Great Adventure for the evening.
The 6 hours that we spent at Seaside Heights were amazing. The ACE event was terrific, and we filmed a lot of videos, including a POV of Star Jet, Wild Mouse, Skyscraper, and a V.I.P. tour of Stillwalk Manor (all videos were filmed WITH park permission!) Casino Pier offers a great family boardwalk fun that everyone should experience.
