On Wednesday June 27th, 2012 we headed back to Hersheypark for a second. We arrived at the park again, about 9:15, before the park opened up. We waited to get in until approximately 9:50, until the gaits opened. When we entered the park, we headed straight to Skyrush again. We arrived at the Coaster at 10:00 am, and it already had a 45 minute wait. Of course, we waited online to ride the epic Intamin Mega Coaster.
After riding Skyrush it was about 10:45, and again we got a quick slushy and a pretzel. We then headed over to ride Storm Runner. It also had a long wait, as it was running on a one train operation. We waited about 45 minuets for the ride. After we rode the neighboring Coaster, 'Outback Steakhouse' Sidewinder. Sidewinder is a Vekoma Boomerang Coaster, and it received new trains for the 2011 season. The new trains made the rough Coaster an enjoyable re-rideable experience.
It was then about 1:00 pm, and we headed over to ride Lightning Racer. When we got there, it had no wait, and we were able to stay on the ride. We were able to stay on the Coaster for 2 hours straight, without getting off! Total, we got over 30 rides on the fantastic Wooden Coaster.
After our marathon on Lightning Racer, we were hungry for lunch. We decided to head over to the Hershey Lodge to check out the beautiful hotel. At the hotel, there is a fantastic restaurant called the Bears Den. It is a highly themed sports restaurant with dozens of televisions, themed to the Hershey Bears Hockey team. If you are ever in Hershey, stop by the Hershey Lodge quick to look around the beautiful hotel, and to eat at the Bears Den.
After eating, we arrived back at the park around 5:00 pm. We were very hot, and decided to rode the huge flume ride, Tidal Force. After riding it, we were all soaking wet. We then meet up quickly with our friends over at All-American Thrills, in front of Fahrenheit. After, we decided to ride Fahrenheit again. The wait was approximately an hour wait, but it was well worth the wait.
After riding Fahrenheit, it was about 7:00 pm, and we headed over to ride the Kissing Tower. After getting a great view of the park, we rode the Great Bear. It had about a 20 minute wait. Following, we rode the classic log flume, the Coal Cracker a few times. We were lucky as the great flume ride had hardly no wait time.
We then went to the Hollow section of the park. We rode the classic SooperDooperLooper a few times, and then we wanted to ride Skyrush at night. The wait time was about 45 minuets, and it was worth the wait.
The time was about 9:15, and we had less than an hour in the park. For our last ride at Hersheypark, we rode Storm Runner again. It had a 45 minute wait, and we got off the ride at 10:00 pm, when the park closed.
That day we experienced another great, fun day at Hersheypark. Hersheypark is truly one of the best amusement parks, and everyone should go to the park at least once. Hershey offers a magical expiernece for everyone. They offer world class Roller Coasters and even fun for the little ones. If you have never gone to Hersheypark, plan your trip today!
On Tuesday June 26th, 2012, the Coaster Of The Day crew headed to Hersheypark in Hershey, PA. This was our first time to Hersheypark for 2012. It was an important day because it was the first time we rode their 12th Coaster, Skyrush.
Our day started at 9:00 am as we arrived at Hersheypark. The park did not open until 10 am, so we had to wait with the massive crowds to enter the park. When the park finally opened, it seemed almost everyone headed to Skyrush. At 10:05 when we arrived at Skyrush, it already had a 30 minute wait. The line moved very slow, due to a one train operation. At 10:30 we reached the point where you can decide to wait for front row, or wait for another row. Since it was the first time we were going to ride this Intamin Mega, we wanted to experience it in the front row. We ended up waiting an extra hour for the front row! After waiting almost 2 hours, we finally rode Skyrush! Overall it was an amazing ride, but there was some problems! (Be sure to Read our full Coaster Review of Skyrush!)
It was about noon, and the park was already crowded. We decided to grab a quick slushy drink, and head over to ride Trailblazer, the mine train Coaster. It was a nice family Coaster, but it was very short. We then headed over to another great Coaster at the park, Storm Runner. The wait time was about 45 minuets, and this Coaster also was on a one train operation. We decided to wait, because this is one crazy Coaster! After riding Storm Runner, we headed over to ride one of the parks 3 wooden Coasters, Wild Cat. Wild Cat was an okay ride, but it was rough. It was also the first Coaster manufactured by GCI (Great Coasters International). After getting our heads rattled around, we headed over to ride another Wooden Coaster at the park, Lightning Racer. Lightning Racer is another GCI Wooden Coaster, and compared to Wild Cat, Lightning Racer is a much better Coaster. We rode Lightning Racer a bunch of times and then headed over to ride Fahrenheit.
We noticed Fahrenheit had a long wait of over 2 hours, so we decided not to wait. Instead we decided to eat lunch at the Hersheypark Place. It is located right outside the parks main entrance, and is the parks only sit down restaurant. It was a good meal, and if your at the park and want a break in the A/C, we highly suggest visiting the Hersheypark Place. With a full stomach, we headed back over to Skyrush to ride it again. Surprisingly, Skyrush only had a 30 minute wait. We decided to wait line, and we rode the back row. After that, we rode the parks oldest operating Coaster, Comet. We then also rode SooperDooperLooper, with it's new trains. (SDL's new trains were fantastic!)
It was then about 5 pm, and we headed over to ride the parks B&M inserted Coaster, Great Bear, and it is one of the best Inverted Coasters. We then rode the Coal Cracker, the classic Log Flume, which is located next to the Great Bear. After that, we rode the parks classic observation tower, the Kissing Tower.
Finally it was 7 pm, and we decided to ride Fahrenheit. Then, it had an hour wait, and we decided to ride it. It was a great Coaster, and it was worth the wait. It was then about 8 pm, and we were very tired from our long day. We then had dinner, and went back to our hotel.
It was a fantastic day at Hersheypark, and we were very luck, as we were heading back to the park the next day!
