The annual ACE Event, EastCoaster, is this Saturday. Representatives from over 10 Amusement Parks and Companies are expected to come with information on future attractions, news, and more. We will keep you updated with new blog post(s) in the next week to inform everyone of the event!
It has been over six months since the terrible and horrifying accident at Six Flags Over Texas when a mother, Rosa Esparza, fell off The New Texas Giant on July 19th, 2013. The court case is taking place after the Esparza family is suing Six Flags Entertainment Corporation and Gerstlaur Amusement Rides for over $1 million dollars, with both companies denying liability for the case. We will find out more as the case unfolds, and in the meantime read more about the case from our source.
In more Six Flags Over Texas News, the park has announced details to their re-themed kids area, Bugs Bunny BoomTown. The new area will be an 'expansion' of the current area, with five new attractions, a complete renovation, and more. From the announcement, the area does seem like it will be nice, but it didn't need to be necessary. The kids area was already themed around Bugs Bunny, so it seems more or less like a renovation and not a full expansion. It is sad we will have to wait at least one more year for another big attraction/Coaster for the park, but it is nice they are at least spending money to improve the park and the family experience.
Speaking of another big attraction, Six Flags Over Texas is long over due for a new Coaster. Besides the refurbishment of The New Texas Giant, the last new Coaster at the park was in 2008 with Pandemonium, and that was just a family Coaster. The last new large Roller Coaster Six Flags Over Texas built was Titan in 2001. 14 years for a new large Roller Coaster is a very long time, and the park deserves one.
It is early for rumors, but I will do a quick speculation. Looking at the Coaster list on rcdb and remembering the last time I visited the park (2011), I can think of one good possible direction the park can go for a new Coaster. First, they have a very strong list of family Coasters, one of the best for any park. They also have a few good tall non-loopers (Titan, Texas Giant), and small looping Coasters (Shockwave, Batman). However, they have only one really good large looper (Mr. Freeze) and NO large multi-looping Coasters. I hope the park will add in a nice multi-looping B&M, like a Floorless or perhaps a new Inverted Coaster (like the upcoming Banshee at Kings Island). But, my bets are on a new B&M Wing Coaster, just like X-Flight at Six Flags Great America. This would make sense because I heard from a highly respected website source that Six Flags has bought a copyright for the X-Flight design (so no other park can build that design) and they have plans to add it in other Six Flags parks. I think Six Flags Over Texas will be on the list to receive the next X-Flight. But remember, this is just me speculating.
For a possible location for the next possible Coaster, I'm hoping in the DC Gotham City area. A few years ago Screamscape posted that a long run plan for the park was to expand the area. This would be a perfect opportunity to expand the area and add in a long desired multi-looping Coaster.
