Now that Son of Beast was (finally) taken down, its time to speculate what they will receive in 2014. Based on the enormous footprint of Son of Beast, and that Kings Island has not revived a new Coaster in four years, it is likely that the park will receive something huge! It is expected for 2014, but might run into 2015 based on the size and planning for the new attraction(s). Screamscape believes that it will not be a park expansion and a new section to the park, but more of a new Coaster and/or attractions. He also thinks it will be one huge steel Coaster (not wood) and could be a B&M Invert, or Giga Coaster. Screamscape is correct over 90% of the time, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one of his predictions come true.
Now, what do I think? I think this could be true. A few years ago, there was rumor for adding a new Coaster and expansion near Firehawk. That idea could be in the former Son of Beast spot now. I think we could very see a new Giga Coaster, based on the size of the footprint, and the high success of Cedar Fair's other Giga Coasters - Millennium Force, Intimidator 305, and Leviathan - as they are some of the best Coasters on the planet. Cedar Fair would love to build another World Coaster leader. For the manufacturer, I hope it is Intamin, because I prefer Intamin over B&M, but wouldn't mind to see another B&M as they are amazing.
Kings Island could opt into getting a B&M Floorless or Invert, but manufacturing of these types of Coasters are declining due to new styles of Coasters, so it is unlikely. I also wouldn't be shocked if the park builds a B&M Wingrider Coaster. I hope this does not happen, as Cedar Point's GateKeeper should be the tallest Wingrider for a long time (at 170 feet) and I hope Kings Island would build a Coaster at least 200+ feet.
Another option for Kings Island is another Wooden Coaster, to be the "Grandson of Beast." They could get a nice GCI, new Gravity Group Woodie, (another) looping Woodie by Rocky Mountain, or hopefully an Intamin Wooden Coaster, like El Toro.
In my opinion, I think the best choice for a new Coaster to replace the Son of Beast is 1) A new huge, epic Intamin Giga Coaster (similar to Millennium Force, or Intimidator 305), 2) An epic Intamin Blitz Coaster (similar to Maverick), 3) An epic Intamin Wooden Coaster (similar to El Toro).
However, it is still too early to see what Kings Island will get in 2014, but here are many options. Whatever they will receive in 2014, I just hope they will not take down another Coaster, because it is so sad to see them leave. There are rumors of Cedar Fair removing all of its Arrow Looping Coasters over the next five or so years, so Vortex might be on the chopping block soon, but it looks like it will be safe for now. The other Arrow Coasters at the park, Adventure Express and Flight Deck (ironically right next to Son of Beast) could be on the chopping block as well. But they should be safe for at least until 2014. Hopefully they will not get removed soon.
Thanks for reading! We will have more updates on Kings Islands 2014 Coaster soon!
At exactly 3:30 on August 13th, 2012, Cedar Point (officially) announced their new Coaster for 2013 - GateKeeper. GateKeeper will be a new Wing Rider Coaster, manufactured by B&M (Bolliger & Mabillard). The new Coaster will reach a height of 170 feet tall with a drop of 164 foot drop reaching speeds of 67 mph and over 4,164 feet long.

In 2013, along with GateKeeper, Cedar Point will reconstruct the parks main entrance. The will add in a new entrance building where GateKeeper will fly over.
It also appears that Cedar Point will noe put in another Coaster for 2013. Origionally in April, and May 2012 (following the announcement of the removal of WildCat), I thought the park would put in two Coasters in 2013 - a large B&M Wing Rider Coaster, and a Kiddie Coaster. It seems like the Point will not put in the Kiddie Coaster in 2013, but maybe plans will change, and they will add it in for 2013, or even hopefully 2014.
When GateKeeper opens in May 2013, it will break many records including:
-Tallest inversion on a Roller Coaster (170 feet)
-Tallest (170 feet), fastest (67mph), and longest (4164 feet) B&M Winged Coaster
-Most inversions on a Winged Coaster (6 inversions)

What is your reaction to Cedar Points 2013 new Coaster - GateKeeper ?
Its official... Cedar Point officially announced on their Facebook Page that Disaster Transport and Space Spiral will be removed from the park. Disaster Transport was an indoor Bobsled Roller Coaster which opened in 1985 as Avalanche Run. In 1990, the park renamed the Coaster to Disaster Transport, enclosed it, and gave it an awesome space theme. Also, Space Spiral was a classic, family Observation Tower, which spiraled 285 feet tall. The ride gave spectacular views of the park.
Rumors for the removal of Disaster Transport began about 5 years ago, when I herd park employees saying "Cedar Point should remove this Coaster." Then, I would never think Cedar Point would never remove one of their Coasters, because they are (now were) "The Coaster Capital of the World." But now they are removing one of the only Bobsled Roller Coasters still in operation.
Personally, I am very sad to hear this news. I was sad to hear the removal of the WildCat in early May, but i am even more disappointed in the removal of Disaster Transport. I am very glad that Cedar Point will receive a new Coaster, but I wish they could keep Disaster Transport. I grew riding this Roller Coaster, and it was one of my favorite rides. Its really sad to see a Roller Coaster get torn down, and the feeling that you can never ride it again...

Currently, Cedar Point will not say what will replace it. They want to keep the new project very secretive to the General Public. However, from this memo leaked, and from the latest rumors, they will receive a new B&M Winged Coaster. A Winged Coaster is a Coaster with multiple inversions, and riders sit to the side of the track, instead above or below the track. The rumors are the new Coaster will reach about 170 feet. It will also be the tallest, fastest, longest, and largest Winged Coaster of all time.
I am proud to see that Cedar Point will put in a great Coaster. Personally, I am very excited for a B&M Wing Coaster at Cedar Point. However, I would rather see heavy re-tracking to Mean Streak, a new GCI Wooden Coaster, a 500 foot tall Coaster, or an Intamin Wooden Coaster similar to El Toro. It has been a long time since The Coaster Capital of the world's last Roller Coaster, which was Maverick in 2007. Cedar Point is very overdo for a new Coaster.
There are also some rumors that Cedar Point might also add in a small kiddie Coaster. I hope this is true, so Cedar Point will get another Coaster. If this is true, I would love to see it in the Planet Snoopy section of the park. The section is always empty, and a new kiddie Coaster there should get Planet Snoopy more alive.
After the removal of Disaster Transport, Cedar Point will have only 15 Coasters. However with the addition of possibly two Coasters, they will reach 17 Coasters. Six Flags Magic Mountain currently has 17 Coaster. With a possible new Coaster in 2013 at SFMM, they will have 18 Coasters. Then, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be the true 'Coaster Capital of the World' and not Cedar Point.

What is your reaction to the removal of Disaster Transport and Space Spiral? Are you glad to see them go, or are you sad?
(*Remember, get your last rides in on Disaster Transport and Space Spiral now!*)
As most Roller Coaster Enthusiasts, we all love to speculate on what our favorite Amusement Parks will receive in the future. Well now its our turn to speculate Six Flags New England's next Coaster. *Remember these are just OUR ideas, and none of it has been conformed by Six Flags!*
Six Flags New England currently has 11 Roller Coasters. Many people (including myself) are asking which will be there next Coaster, and when will they get it? The park got a Coaster in 2011 and 2012, so it is very unlikely that the park will get another Coaster in 2013. (Most parks dont get 3 Coasters 3 years in a row!) Also amusement parks do not just focus on Roller Coasters. They also focus on getting water rides, flat rides, family rides, shows, etc. So, I think the park will receive there next Coaster in 2014 (but we can always hope for 2013!)
As for what Coaster, I believe the park might get a 'bigger' Coaster, instead of another family style Coaster. I am not yet sure what type yet, but I could see SFNE receiving a B&M Wing Rider Coaster. Six Flags Great America's X-Flight, that just recently opened is getting great reviews. I think this model will be 'cloned' at other Six Flags parks. (Just like Six Flags cloned there famous inverted coaster - Batman: The Ride. Also they cloned The Dark Knight Coasters, the Boomerang Coasters, the Superman flying Coasters, etc.) X-Flight is also very compact, and could fit nicely into a lot of Six Flags parks. Maybe SFNE is next?
Im not entirely sure what other perfect Coaster the park can receive. I would LOVE to see another Intamin Pre-Fab Wooden Coaster, like El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure, but sadly that will be unlikely. I also would love to see a GCII Wooden Coaster in the park. It would be an awesome experience to have a GCII Wooden Coaster run though the trees behind Bizarro and Thunderbolt, but I dont think we would see that soon! A new Wooden Coaster would be great, but the park already has two great Woodies - Cyclone and Thunderbolt.
The park could also use a nice launched Coaster. A premier launched Coaster would be awesome, as well as a small launched Coaster like BGW's Verbolten. An Intamin Inverted Impulse Coaster would be great too, because it is so compact. What other possible Coasters could SFNE receive next?
As for location, I think the park will remove one of there Coasters before receiving another new Coaster. SFNE is a very small park and does not have a lot of land for new attractions. One possible location I see is the site of Mind Eraser. In the next few years, I can see Mind Eraser leaving the park and entering the Six Flags ride rotisery program. Then the Coaster will find a new home at another park. Mind Eraser is a rough ride, it is not popular anymore, and a lot of people hate the ride.
Here is the current site of Mind Eraser at Six Flags New England.
* Picture taken from Google Earth*
The red area shows approximately the amount of land the park will have if it removes the Mind Eraser. The park will have a lot if land for a new Coaster and/or attraction. (A B&M Wing Rider Coaster would fit perfect into here!)
*Picture taken from Google Earth*
This would be a great opertunity if SFNE does do this. A unpopular Coaster can be relocated to another Six Flags park (Im guessing The Great Escape would be the best candidate to recieve it.) Then the park could have the experience to have 'a new Coaster' or another attraction. SFNE will have room in the park for a great new Coaster!
Also people think the parks boomerang Coaster, the Flashback, will leave the park soon. That ride also has low popularity and it is a really rough ride. The park also just got a Giant Inverted Boomerang (Deja Vu from Six Flags Magic Mountain) and located it right next to its other Boomerang! This also is very odd and asks the question "Why the heck would Six Flags put two Boomerang Coasters in the SAME park and NEXT to each other!" A lot of people think that Flashback leave the park in the near future.
Here is a quick photo showing SFNE's 'new' Coaster, Goliath (the green Giant Inverted Boomerang) and the parks other Boomerang Coaster, Flashback, located right behind it.
*Photo taken by Coaster Of The Day*
Personally I am not sure if we would see Flashback leaving SFNE. At the ACE event, The Great Nor'Easter 2012, the SFNE reps said that in the next few years NO major attractions will leave the park. I do believe him, and I dont think he will lie to Roller Coaster Enthusiests. But, this does not mean that nothing will leave the park. There plans always change! Also if Flashback does leave the park, what can they replace it with? The Coaster is very compact barley takes up any room in the park. SFNE would not have room to put in a large Coaster into its place. The only 'large' Coaster that could fit there is an Intamin Inverted Impulse Coaster (and that would be awesome!) If Flashback does leave the park, a small attraction/ride would probably replace it.
So there you have it - our ideas for what Six Flags New England's next Coaster could be. Now, my guess is that Mind Eraser (or maybe even Flashback) will be removed from the park in the next few years. If Mind Eraser leaves, I could see a B&M Wing Rider (that is similar to X-Flight at Six Flags Great America) replacing it in 2014.
*Remember, these are just OUR ideas as of now, and nothing is official just yet!*
