On Tuesday April 1st, 2014 Cedar Point announced their 17th Coaster for 2015. "El Bandido," which is Spanish for "The Bandit," will be a new Intamin Wooden Coaster, similar to El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure. The new Coaster will replace Thunder Canyon on the Frontier Trail and will be the tallest Wooden Coaster in the world, at 207 feet, with a 90 degree drop.
There is no other news at this time because this is obviously an April Fools Prank. Cedar Point HAS NOT announced a Coaster for 2015 (at this time.) Do you think Cedar Point will add a new Coaster for 2015? If so, what? Write your predictions down below and have a great April Fools Day!
2014 just started and Knoebels already announced their 2015 attraction! (No, this is not a joke!) Knoebels confirmed for 2015 they will receive "Impulse", a Zierer Coaster with a vertical chain lift at 98 feet tall reaching about 56 mph . The new steel Coaster will feature four inversions, a Cobra Roll, Loop, and an Inline Twist. The location will be where the current Bumper Boats and Boat Tag is located, which is near the front of the park near the Ferris Wheel. Expect the two rides to be removed sometime in 2014. That is all the information the park has announced at this time, and expect more news about the ride soon!
This announcement was ironic for me, as I was going to do a post within the next few days speculating 2015 Knoebels attraction. From the first looks, I think the Coaster looks great. I would've rather seen a new Wooden Coaster, but Impulse will be a great addition to the park to give it more diversity. Knoebels specializes in having Wooden, unique, and smaller Coasters, so a new Steel Coaster with inversions will give the diversity it needs. I am not shocked, as Knoebels has been receiving new Coasters every other year (Kozmo's Kurves in 2009, Black Diamond in 2011, Flying Turns in 2013, and now Impulse in 2015). The park does have a history of delayed opening for their Coasters (Flying Turns which took over 5 years, and I wouldn't think I would live to see it open), so hopefully Impulse will open in 2015. I'm sure it will, since it is not a special/unique/rare Coaster like Flying Turns.
There is only one negative response I have to this: I would've rather had Knoebels wait a little longer and build up more hype for the Coaster. Perhaps something similar to Project 2012, where Hersheypark set up a huge viral marketing campaign for Skyrush. 2014 just started, and I wished Knoebels just waited a little longer for the big announcement to keep everyone speculating more.
But I am very glad Knoebels is receiving Impulse, and I can't wait to ride it!
On a side note, since Knoebels has been getting a Coaster every other year, I think in 2017 they will invest in a terrain Wooden Coaster... But for now, let's get excited for Impulse!

In other news, Cedar Point announced more new attractions for 2014! First, more improvements will happen along the Gemini Midway with the addition of Sling Shot, an upchage attraction that will blast you 360 feet in the air! I'm not totally shocked by this announcement, as I felt that Cedar Point should invested in something else in 2014, and now they have! Also, the point will renovate the Gameday Grill into Chickie's and Pete's. I'm also not shocked, as Dorney Park and other Cedar Fair parks have been making this change. Finally, Donut Time will become a full Starbucks!
More great news is coming out of Cedar Point!
Are you excited for Impulse at Knoebels and the new additions into Cedar Point?

Before I begin, I know this post may seem crazy to many of you, as so many people are not focused on the future of Cedar Point, as in 2013 they will receive the long awaited new Coaster, GateKeeper. But exactly a year ago now, everyone was excited and speculating on Cedar Point in 2013. Then, Cedar Point already had planned on getting GateKeeper in 2013. Now, the park already knows what they will receive in 2014, but speculation is so small, due to the focus on GateKeeper.
*Note: This post is JUST for speculation on what Cedar Point could receive in the future. We do not want to create rumors, we are just speculating the future of Cedar Point*
Based on the fact that Cedar Point is spending over $25 million dollars for GateKeeper in 2013, it is very rare that the park will add a new significant attraction in 2014. The park does receive something new each year, and will most likely add something new in the park, even if it is a small new restaurant, new kiddie ride, or small park improvements.
In 2015 I expect Cedar Point to receive a new ride, particularly some Thrill Ride, or even a few new small flat family rides around the park. Back in May 2012, I thought Cedar Point would add in a new small Kiddie Coaster in the park, near the Planet Snoopy Section, to increase popularity in that area for kids. Hopefully the park still has plans like that in the future (particularly 2014-2016) to increase their Coaster count.
However, I have a feeling that Cedar Points next "big" Coaster would occur in approximately 2016. It seems like the likely year. However, that year could move to 2017 if the park decides to add another family style Coaster before it adds in a new major Coaster. (Similar to how Knotts Berry Farm was rumored to add in a new major Giga Coaster in 2013, but decided to add in a family Wild Mouse Coaster instead, and their major Coaster project has been pushed back to 2015.) However, at the beginning of 2013, it is very hard to picture what exactly Cedar Point will add in future years. (Remember, this post is just speculation)
Now, it is very had to decide what type of new Coaster Cedar Point would add in the future. Based on their huge Coaster collection now, Cedar Point does only have 2 true Wooden Coasters. One is regarded as one of the worst Wooden Coasters, due to its roughness (Mean Streak.) The other, is a classic family Wooden Coaster that does not gain as much attention as it should (Blue Streak). Cedar Point is regarded as the best Amusement Park in the World, and its Wooden Coasters are kind-of-lame. They should invest in a new Wooden Coaster that would change the parks Coaster collection, the park, and its skyline. Myself, along with most of the Coaster community, would love to see a refurbishment to Mean Streak by Rocky Mountain. However, it is somewhat unlikely as the park is currently working on a mult-year system to fix the Coaster, which has been going on for years, and it is improving the Coaster. More people are starting to enjoy the Coaster, and it is gaining popularity. After Mean Streak is gaining more positive reviews, and the park is putting this much work into the ride, it will be unlikely they will transform the Coaster into a Hybrid Coaster, similar to New Texas Giant, or Iron Rattler. A new Wooden Coaster by Rocky Mountain (like Outlaw Run) would be more likely, and awesome. A new GCI or Gravity Group Classic Woodie would fit perfectly on the coast of Lake Erie. However, my personal favorite addition would be a new Intamin Pre-Fab Coaster, like El Toro. El Toro is regarded as the best Wooden Coaster on the planet, but it is the only one of its kind in the United States. Why has not an Amusement Park added a sister Coaster to El Toro after its huge popularity and fame? If Cedar Point will not invest in an Intamin Pre-Fab Wooden Coaster, hopefully another Amusement Park would. Imagine Cedar Point, the best Amusement Park in the world, gaining one of the best Wooden Coasters. It would be amazing, and a great investment. During Coaster Mania 2011, Dick Kinzel HINTED that he himself rode El Toro, and thought it was fantastic.
The location of Cedar Points next new Coaster would be interesting. The park is located on a peninsula, and land is very scarce and hard to find. They just removed 2 Coasters, and one ride, so a ride or Coaster removal is likely to happen. In 2011, there was a rumor that Cedar Points new Coaster would be located right next to Blue Streak and Raptor, where the former Dark Ride was, and where a few flat rides are located today. I am not sure if that area is still under consideration, or if it was regarded. Another few locations could be in Frontier Town, or another small spot along the shore line. Where ever the exact location will be, it is most likely it would occur in the middle section (around Top-Thrill Dragster and Magnum area) towards the back of the park, in Frontier Town (around Maverick and Mean Streak). The location would be here because they are currently remodeling the whole entrance and front of the park, and for the next Coaster would focus on other locations of the park.
That completes our speculation for Cedar Point for the future. We will have more news within the next few years.
Thanks for reading! What do you think Cedar Point's next attraction will be?
At exactly 3:30 on August 13th, 2012, Cedar Point (officially) announced their new Coaster for 2013 - GateKeeper. GateKeeper will be a new Wing Rider Coaster, manufactured by B&M (Bolliger & Mabillard). The new Coaster will reach a height of 170 feet tall with a drop of 164 foot drop reaching speeds of 67 mph and over 4,164 feet long.

In 2013, along with GateKeeper, Cedar Point will reconstruct the parks main entrance. The will add in a new entrance building where GateKeeper will fly over.
It also appears that Cedar Point will noe put in another Coaster for 2013. Origionally in April, and May 2012 (following the announcement of the removal of WildCat), I thought the park would put in two Coasters in 2013 - a large B&M Wing Rider Coaster, and a Kiddie Coaster. It seems like the Point will not put in the Kiddie Coaster in 2013, but maybe plans will change, and they will add it in for 2013, or even hopefully 2014.
When GateKeeper opens in May 2013, it will break many records including:
-Tallest inversion on a Roller Coaster (170 feet)
-Tallest (170 feet), fastest (67mph), and longest (4164 feet) B&M Winged Coaster
-Most inversions on a Winged Coaster (6 inversions)

What is your reaction to Cedar Points 2013 new Coaster - GateKeeper ?
Its official... Cedar Point officially announced on their Facebook Page that Disaster Transport and Space Spiral will be removed from the park. Disaster Transport was an indoor Bobsled Roller Coaster which opened in 1985 as Avalanche Run. In 1990, the park renamed the Coaster to Disaster Transport, enclosed it, and gave it an awesome space theme. Also, Space Spiral was a classic, family Observation Tower, which spiraled 285 feet tall. The ride gave spectacular views of the park.
Rumors for the removal of Disaster Transport began about 5 years ago, when I herd park employees saying "Cedar Point should remove this Coaster." Then, I would never think Cedar Point would never remove one of their Coasters, because they are (now were) "The Coaster Capital of the World." But now they are removing one of the only Bobsled Roller Coasters still in operation.
Personally, I am very sad to hear this news. I was sad to hear the removal of the WildCat in early May, but i am even more disappointed in the removal of Disaster Transport. I am very glad that Cedar Point will receive a new Coaster, but I wish they could keep Disaster Transport. I grew riding this Roller Coaster, and it was one of my favorite rides. Its really sad to see a Roller Coaster get torn down, and the feeling that you can never ride it again...

Currently, Cedar Point will not say what will replace it. They want to keep the new project very secretive to the General Public. However, from this memo leaked, and from the latest rumors, they will receive a new B&M Winged Coaster. A Winged Coaster is a Coaster with multiple inversions, and riders sit to the side of the track, instead above or below the track. The rumors are the new Coaster will reach about 170 feet. It will also be the tallest, fastest, longest, and largest Winged Coaster of all time.
I am proud to see that Cedar Point will put in a great Coaster. Personally, I am very excited for a B&M Wing Coaster at Cedar Point. However, I would rather see heavy re-tracking to Mean Streak, a new GCI Wooden Coaster, a 500 foot tall Coaster, or an Intamin Wooden Coaster similar to El Toro. It has been a long time since The Coaster Capital of the world's last Roller Coaster, which was Maverick in 2007. Cedar Point is very overdo for a new Coaster.
There are also some rumors that Cedar Point might also add in a small kiddie Coaster. I hope this is true, so Cedar Point will get another Coaster. If this is true, I would love to see it in the Planet Snoopy section of the park. The section is always empty, and a new kiddie Coaster there should get Planet Snoopy more alive.
After the removal of Disaster Transport, Cedar Point will have only 15 Coasters. However with the addition of possibly two Coasters, they will reach 17 Coasters. Six Flags Magic Mountain currently has 17 Coaster. With a possible new Coaster in 2013 at SFMM, they will have 18 Coasters. Then, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be the true 'Coaster Capital of the World' and not Cedar Point.

What is your reaction to the removal of Disaster Transport and Space Spiral? Are you glad to see them go, or are you sad?
(*Remember, get your last rides in on Disaster Transport and Space Spiral now!*)
Yesterday on May 2nd, 2012 Cedar Point announced the removal of the WildCat Coaster. Cedar Point said the reason was for a Celebration Plaza Expansion. Also WildCat was getting old. It was in bad condition, the maintenance price was increasing, and it was not safe. Most people, including myself, are very sad to see this Coaster leave. It was a 'piece of junk' as some people say, but it is sad to see a Roller Coaster leave.
Now to speculate what will happen in the future. (You can also read our first post for Cedar Point in 2013) Personally, I think the rumor from last month will be true - That Cedar Point will get two Coasters in 2013. A Large Coaster and a kiddie Coaster. Throughout the articles CP wrote, and Facebook/Twitter updates they really seem to be sad that the ride is leaving. They also always mention something like this: 'new Coasters are always a park of Cedar Points future.' This basically gives away that CP will get at least one new Coaster in 2013, and they are highly thinking of new Coasters to add into the park.
I believe this kiddie Coaster will go where WildCat was. Think to yourself 'What could CP put where WildCat was?' Hopefully the correct answer would be a small Coaster. CP will not removed one of there beloved 17 Coasters for something stupid, like a new food stand or skill game. What ever they will put in that location will be excellent and wont let people down.
So after the removal of WildCat, Cedar Point will be down to 16 Coasters and be in second place (with most Coasters) after Six Flags Magic Mountain. SFMM currently has 17 Coasters in 2012 and in 2013, they will build a second 18th Coaster. If CP adds a large Coaster and a kiddie Coaster in 2013, they will also have 18 Coasters.
It is still too early to say what will happen to Cedar Point in 2013, but we can only hope for the best!
