Its that time of the year again, where rumors for next years attractions start to become strong. The long time rumor for Six Flags Great Adventure is the addition of a drop tower to the park, possibly attached to the support structure of Kingda Ka. If this is still in serious consideration for the park, the new Drop Tower would be the tallest Drop Tower on the plant.
If this becomes true, the only problem is there is no perfect path to the support tower of Kingda Ka, as it is far away from the current paths in the park. Last year, I proposed a path that just extended from the entrance of Kingda Ka, along the launch track, to the structure. While this seems like it would be the best idea to do, it doesn't seem like Six Flags wants to do this.
Another 2014 rumor besides the Drop Tower is the rumored removal of Rolling Thunder. The Coaster has been rumored to be removed for a long time, due to its age, lack of popularity, and condition. Screamscape received an email a few weeks ago warning people "Ride Rolling Thunder while you can." Also based on the history of SFGA, the park seems to love to remove Roller Coasters, as every few years they remove another one (it must be one of their hobbies.)
Also, we visited SFGA yesterday (8/12/13) and I spoke to a manager at the park walking around. I asked her if she heard the rumor about removing Rolling Thunder. She said "I have personally not heard anything, but I know the one side will not be in operation for the rest of the season. But remember, the ride is really old." Based on her tone she knew about it, but can't tell anyone official information.
I would be extremely sad if they remove Rolling Thunder. Not because I love the Coaster, it is a decently good Coaster, but I hate to see a Coaster removed, no matter how it is. Whatever SFGA decides to do, I hope they keep Rolling Thunder.
This picture shows an ariel view of the section of the park including Kingda Ka, Rolling Thunder, and El Toro. It shows that there is enough room to make a pathway extension from the entrance of Kingda Ka. Also, if Rolling Thunder is removed, there will be plenty of room to have a nice, large pathway to Kingda Ka, and possibly expand the park with more rides and Coasters in the future.

If I had my choice for SFGA 2014 attractions, I would love to see a large S&S Drop Tower in Movie Town to see that section of the park back to life again. (I really hope SFGA will add more attractions in Movie Town.) But if SFGA decides to put the drop tower on Kingda Ka, I would like it, but I just hope they keep Rolling Thunder. (But if Rolling Thunder stays, wouldn't it be an awesome idea to keep one side of Rolling Thunder the same, and get Rocky Mountain to do an overhaul to the otherside of Rolling Thunder, similar to what American Eagle at Six Flags Great America might receive in 2014. Then we would have 3 awesome Wooden Coasters all right next to each other!)
What do you think Six Flags Great Adventure will receive in 2014? A Drop Tower? Also, do you think Rolling Thunder will be removed?
It has been a long time sense we last posted to our Blog, as the major Amusement Park Rumors have decreased due to many official announcements. Now, the rumor mill has started to rise back up again!
One of the most anticipated new attractions for 2014 is the long-time rumored Giga Drop Tower, to be attached to Kingda Ka's Support Structure, to become the tallest Drop Tower in the world. The word for this has decreased for a good amount of time, but it has risen again. From sources, this Drop Tower has been approved to be built. The only problem is, how will guests reach that area, as the only way to reach the Support tower is through Restricted Access paths. We have talked about this situation in previous posts (post 1) (post 2). Our first post talks about creating a path between Rolling Thunder, and Kingda Ka, to the support tower. In September 2012, we went on a VIP tour of that area, and it was filled with maintenance buildings, and it was small and not too clean. They will have to revamp that area if that does happen. Our second post talks about the rumored Removal of Rolling Thunder, and using that space for a park expansion. This could happen, but the rumors for Rolling Thunders Removal has decreased. Another possible location for the new path was is to use the former Parking lot/restroom outpost at the end of the Wild Safari, as now it will become Safari Off-Road Adventure. However, that could be used for the new Safari Off-Road Adventure. We will find our more news soon.
The addition of the Worlds Tallest Drop Tower to Kingda Ka's Support Structure is becoming promising! Stay Tuned for more updates!
Six Flags Great Adventure: 2014 and Beyond - Coaster Removal(s), New Coaster and Giga Drop Tower Update
It was relieved that in 2013, Six Flags Great Adventure will be transforming their current Wild Safari to a new attraction called Safari Off-Road Adventure. Now that this has been announced it is time to speculate what SFGA will receive in the future.
It is still rumored that the park will receive a 400 foot + Drop Tower, attached to the support tower of the current Words tallest Coaster, Kingda Ka. When the rumor first surfaced, it was rumored to be added to the park in 2013, but now has been pushed back to at least 2014 or 2015.
As I stated a few months ago, I would rather see a multi-launched Drop Tower as a nice themed attraction in the Movie Town section of the park, but it is looking like it will be attached to Kingda Ka. Now, if this does happen, there will have to be a clean path to the end of Kingda Ka. We proposed for the park to create a path between Kingda Ka and Rolling Thunder. As our Google Earth image below shows, there would be enough room to create this. However, during our VIP tour of Kingda Ka, we saw the back end of Kingda Ka crowded, as there were a lot of maintenance buildings.
A few weeks ago, Screamscape reported a rumor that SFGA may opt to remove Rolling Thunder in the foreseeable future. If this does happen, a new pathway could be created to the back side of Kingda Ka. Then, they can add in the drop tower, as long as expand the park. A new themed section of the park could be created, along with new rides, and Coasters. (We have an anonymous source, that SFGA might add a red, hyper looping Coaster around the 'El Toro' section of the park.)
This photo shows the current area of Kingda Ka, Rolling Thunder, and El Toro.
If Rolling Thunder (The large white Wooden Coaster) is removed, the park will have a large area to expand. They will have room for a nice, clean parthway to the back of Kingda Ka, as long as area for a new themed section, with rides, Coasters, and more.

This is not guaranteed Rolling Thunder will be removed soon, or anytime soon. Remember, this is just a rumor. However, I am shocked I heard this rumor. I would have been glad hearing this rumor a few years ago, when the Coaster was out of shape. According to park management at Riding of the Bull Cuatro, the park has done much retracting and refurbishing to Rolling Thunder in the last year. The last time we rode it in September, it was the smoothest we ever rode the Coaster. Now, I will be upset to see the Coaster leave, as it is in great shape, and an icon to the park. SFGA has removed too many Coasters in its history, and should focus on adding more Coasters, and not removing them. I will be very frustrated and angry at SFGA. Time will tell and we will see what happens to Rolling Thunder in the future.
Below are some more photos we took during our VIP tour of Kingda Ka, showing the support tower, and the possible location for the Giga Drop Tower.
Also here is a new, updated possible 5 year plan for SFGA:
2013: Safari Off-Road Adventure and possible removal of Rolling Thunder ?
2014: Giga 400+ foot Drop Tower and part one of expansions
2015: Part 2 of expansions and internal features and updates
2016: New Coaster and final part of expansion
2017-2018 and beyond: ?
*remember, these are just our ideas, and nothing is confirmed by the park!*
As always, Thanks for reading!

In two weeks from now, on August 30th, 2012, Six Flags will announce their 2013 investments for all their parks. There are a ton of rumors, some true, and some false. The latest rumor is that Six Flags Great Adventure will not receive its 400+ ft Drop Tower until 2014. So then, what will Six Flags Great Adventure receive 2013? We well officially find out in two weeks, but we will do some speculation now:
In 2012, SFGA received a large new flat ride, the SkyScreamer. After this, and the 2014 giga Drop Tower, SFGA will most likely not get a large flat ride in 2013. The latest rumor has it that the park will just receive internal improvements, in order to save some money for future projects. Some of this includes new shows, entertainment, a waterside, minor improvements, and even a Safari Upgrade.
The largest will defiantly be the Safari upgrade. It is not sure if SFGA will make a small upgrade to it, expand it, or totally revamp it. I can not reveal my secret source, but I know that SFGA is very interested into turning their Drive-through Wild Safari into a guided tour safari, much similar to Disney's Animal Kingdoms' Kilimanjaro Safari. If this happens, the project could cost millions and millions of dollars, on the work, the new expensive trucks, upkeep, and GAS for the trucks. The amount of money in gas for the trucks will be a lot. SFGA will also most likely make it an up charge attraction, where you will have to pay extra money to ride it. Also, the Drive-through Wild Safari attraction could be totally removed, for the new guided tour.
But, what happens if it does happen, and the new project does not click with the general public, and people want back the original Drive-through Safari? SFGA will go into a big hole, loose millions of dollars, and loose one of their greatest attractions. Then the park could be set back a few years, and it might take even longer for a new Coaster, and Drop Tower to be added to the park. If in fact they go this route, i hope the outcome will be better than Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The blue circle shows the actual 'Amusement park' section.

If this Safari Upgrade/Expansion does happen, where will it be located? It could just go where the entrance where the current Wild Safari is now, but then the new project will be outside the park, and not inside it as a ride attraction. So where could the entrance be inside the park? One possible location inside the park is near the location of the possible Drop Tower for SFGA, on the Kindgda Ka tower structure. If this is the location for the Drop Tower, SFGA will need to add a new pathway, from the entrance of Kingda Ka, past the launched track section, to the support tower structure. This is right next to the exit of the current Wild Safari. The park can expand the park, and use the current Wild Safari exit building and area to have a new entrance. This could be a park of a 'two year expansion plan' to add a park expansion.

Another location could be in the Frontier Adventures section of the park, near Bizarro. There is a rumor that Bizarro (the worlds first B&M Floorless Coaster) could be removed from the park, and be placed at another Six Flags park. The rumor firs came up in January 2012, saying that Bizarro could be removed, and be replaced by a new B&M Wing Rider Coaster. This spread like wild fire over the Internet, and then the rumor disappeared, as it was proven to most likely be 'false'. Now there is a rumor that Bizarro could be removed for this Safari Expansion. Bizarro is in a good location for this because it is next to the Wild Safari. It also is loosing popularity over all the other Coasters in the park, and being in a bad location, being isolated in the park. However, This most likely will not happen. I would HATE seeing SFGA loose another Coaster. Also, The park would have announced the removal, and we would have seen survey markers, and 'bigger' rumors. However, anything could happen.
Finally, one more possible location is the fort entertainment stadium. It is located right next to Bizarro. The park could take that stadium out, because it's hardly ever used, and use that as the entrance to the new Safari. Or, the stadium could be used as a new show, part of a possible new entertainment package for 2013.
Also, here is a Possible 5 year plan for Six Flags Great Adventure:
2013: Safari Upgrade/Internal improvements
2014: Giga 400+ Drop Tower
2015-2017: New Coaster/Movie Town park expansion/more
We will find out the truth on Six Flags Great Adventures 2013 investment on August 30th, 2012!
What do you think SFGA will receive in the future?
(Update) A few weeks ago, Screamscape reported that Six Flags New England attended a town board meeting. There they proposed a new 2013 attraction, a Star Flyer ride. The town did approve the proposed attraction, but zoning will take place. Surprisingly at the meeting, Six Flags stated that the height of the new attraction would be 400 feet tall. This would make it the tallest Star Flyer of all time. Six Flags also stated it would share the this title with another Star Flyer at another Six Flags Park. The rumor is that other Six Flags Park would be Six Flags Over Texas.
This 400 foot tall Star Flyer is crazy news. At first I did not believe it, but many local media outlets, and websites have confirmed this. Also, Six Flags New England does have a height limit of about 200 feet. I am very surprised the town board approved of this new 400 foot tall attraction. I thought the 242' SkyScreamer at Six Flags Great Adventure was tall, but Six Flags New England's will be ginormous! (Check out pictures of the plans, by SFNEonline!)
As for the location of this attraction, I was wrong about it being located in the Main Street section of the park. It will be located in the North End section of the park. The exact spot will be the location of the parks Sky Coaster (Taz's Daredevil Dive.) It is an up-charge attraction (meaning, you have to pary extra to ride it.) Taz's Daredevil Dive is unpopular, as it is at the corner of the park, and it is overpriced to ride.
This photo shows the Cyclone Wooden Coaster, Catapult, Blizzard River, and Taz's Daredevil Dive. It also will be the new home to Six Flags New England's 400 foot Star Flyer.

Six Flags New England's and Six Flags Over Texas's Star Flyer will be 400' feet tall!

Currently, there are no Rumors for the location of the Star Flyer at Six Flags Over Texas, and the possible names for these Star Flyer(s). We will find more news about this soon!
(Six Flags will officially sometime announce the details in early September)
What is your reaction to this news?
There are many ideas and rumors on what Six Flags Great Adventure will receive in the future. One large rumor is the addition of a large drop tower. I herd from many sources (that I can not share!) that a drop tower for SFGA will finally happen.
The first time I herd about this rumor was during ACE Riding Of The Bull Dos in 2010. My friends and I thought that SFGA needs flat rides and a drop tower. Also during a chat with the park president, he said that the park wants to focus on getting more flat and thrill rides. For the 2012 season, SFGA is getting SkyScreamer, a 242 ft SkyFlier, and three other slat rides. The park started to get some more flats and I think in 2013 they will continue to add in a few more flat rides, thrill rides, and even a Drop Tower.
One location this possible Drop Tower is in the Golden Kingdom sectinon of the park, where Kingda Ka is located.
This photo shows the current Golden Kingdom section of the park, there Kingda Ka is located.

This photo shows what a possible expansion of the Golden Kingdom would look like. The small black circle shows the current que line of Kingda Ka. The large red line shows a path way to the Kingda Ka tower structure. The blue 'X' shows where a drop tower could be located, and attached to the 456 ft. tower structure.

Another possible location for the drop tower could be the MovieTown section of the park. This area once had many rides, and Coasters, but has fallen apart. The area only has two Coasters, and needs some expansion and some more rides. Batman and Robin: The Chiller once was here, but was removed in 2007. The park has kept the station and que lines. I think Six Flags does have plans to add in a new attraction to use this station and que line. It may be for a new Coaster of even a drop tower.
The addition of a drop tower to Movie Town could make this section alive again.
This photo shows the Movie Town section of the park. Could a drop tower and other flats enter this section of the park for 2013?
*Photo taken from Google Earth*
For what type of manufacturer, I think we will see another Intamin Drop Tower, similar to Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom at Six Flags Magic Mountain and The Giant Drop at Dreamworld. This type of Drop Tower would fit perfectly onto Kingda Ka's structure. However, I would LOVE to see S&S Drop Towers.
*Remember, these are just our ideas!*
